Welcome sticky icon

Hello there and welcome on my site about the FireDTV devices and the Linux-driver.

First of all, let's make clear that I am in NO way connected with Digital Everywhere and that the tutorials are best-effort. Try them at your own risk, make backups when trying them out and so on (you know the drill).

I'm not really sure which way I'm going with this site, for the moment the howto on installing the current firedtv-driver is the only content, hopefully it's useful and there will follow more cool/useful stuff. We'll see :-)

New Howto!

It's finally here! It took some time, but it's finished.
You can read it here.
Thanks to boudicca, he (or she?) created an excellent starting point for my howto.

Update coming soon

A lot has changed since my last howto.
I was notified that the url to kernel.org is no longer correct, but, more importantly: the driver is now added to the 'official' kernel (as of version 2.6.29 or something).
Time for a new howto, which I hope to finish by next week.

Update 2: The hard disk of my Linux system just crashed. Fortunately, it's still in warranty. Unfortunately, this means another delay (send the disk for replacement, wait until the new disk arrives).

Update: The howto is a little delayed, not my fault this time :-p

DVB-S working for DVB-S2 devices

Rather strange title :-)
The attached patches add DVB-S support for DVB-S2 devices, so all those S2-owners now can at least watch DVB-S channels in linux.
First, apply device-recognition.patch and then add_dvbs.patch.

Common Interface supported!

Interesting news: Henrik Kurelid had some fun with the driver and implemented support for the Common Interface. I haven't tried it yet, but it definitely looks promising. Have a look @ his site.

I'm trying the patch asap. I'll keep you posted.

TV Vlaanderen transponder list

I know most of the visitors here will be Linux-users, but for those Windows users among the visitors, the attached files might be handy.

TV Vlaanderen is changing to another transponder, the attached file SAT_Astra19_TVVlaanderen.reg contains the updated transponder list, but first you should run ClearTransponder.bat to remove the old entries.

You also will have to rescan and reorder, so let's hope this is the last change in a long time.
